I am currently working on my first book project titled
On the Range and Under the Radar. It is an ethnographic and archival study of bat scientists in Texas.
A piece of this book project, one that explores what the state of Texas is going to do about a million bats living in a dilapidated warehouse owned by the Texas prison system and threatening a public health crisis, was shortlisted for the Rapapport Graduate Student prize for the Anthropology and Environment Section at the American Anthropology Association in 2024. A short version appears in
a blog post on Engagements. A longer, article-length version is currently under review.
This research also inspired
the collaborative piece "Apertures all the way down" between myself and Emily Lee, a writer and artist based in Texas. This appeared in the
Climate Interiors issue of
LIMN.
I also recently published an article called
"Lone Star Futures" in Public Books inspired by my collaboration with the
Refusing to Forget project. I worked primarily on
2023 public history project on the racial violence of the Texas Rangers.
I have also written about the body. My
essay on leakiness appeared in The New Inquiry in 2017.
